An international reference center based in Geneva

Sustainable development and human rights are concerns for both today’s generation and those to come. A visit to the Centre Objectif Terre should prompt visitors to reflect on the world and society they wish to see emerge, as well as the means necessary to achieve such a vision.
Far from relying on clichés or moralizing, alarming messages, the Centre will avoid offering ready-made answers. Instead, it will guide visitors toward formulating the right questions, providing the elements needed to explore and address them. The Centre will offer food for thought for everyone, equipped with analytical tools and keys to understanding.
The Centre will unite all cultural stakeholders involved in sustainable development, including:
• Scientific community : World-renowned researchers and experts contributing knowledge and insights.
• Artistic community : Raising awareness and evoking emotions through art to connect people to the issue of sustainability.
• Educational sector : Involving students, teachers, and professors from elementary school to university to foster environmental literacy.
• Associations, NGOs, and businesses : Promoting sustainable products, services, and initiatives.
• Governmental bodies, public services, and political authorities : Engaging with policy-makers to promote systemic change.
This collaborative approach will ensure that the Centre becomes a leading platform for sustainable development and a global icon for future-focused action.
A forward-lookingcenter
The future Objectif Terre Center, spanning 10,000 m², will serve as a dynamic hub for:
• Showcasing knowledge and discoveries in sustainable development, keeping the public informed about the latest advancements and solutions.
• Sharing scientifically and academically validated information, making it accessible to as wide an audience as possible, ensuring that critical knowledge is not limited to experts but reaches everyone.
• Creating a renowned tourist attraction, drawing thousands of visitors each year, and positioning Geneva as a global center connected to the world’s most pressing issues.
• Unifying sustainable development stakeholders, fostering synergies and promoting a shared global vision for a sustainable future.
• Stimulating inter-generational and trans-disciplinary exchanges, bringing together entrepreneurs, associations (NGOs, IGOs), scientists, educators, students, politicians, and citizens to collaborate on innovative solutions and implement solidarities that can make our world more sustainable.
This center will be both a beacon of knowledge and a vibrant hub for dialogue, action, and collaboration, working together to shape a sustainable future for all.
A space for everyone !
The Centre Objectif Terre will offer engaging and interactive exhibits for all visitors, from students to families, and beginners to experts. With multiple levels of explanation, it will cater to various interests and curiosity. Permanent and temporary exhibitions will focus on sustainable development and human rights, using innovative methods to present the topics.
Location
In January 2010, the Conseil d’État committed to providing a location for the Centre Objectif Terre. In 2013, the authorities of the Republic and Canton of Geneva proposed a site in the Praille-Acacias-Vernets district, at the heart of a future development area.
This site will be located in a vibrant, innovative part of the city, near the CEVA train line, and will be part of a completely renovated district. Known as Geneva’s future “Manhattan,” the area will adhere to the highest sustainability standards.
The community has been invited to contribute to the development of the concept. The restoration of the nearby river has already been planned, along with numerous corridors and green spaces.
In 2015, the Earth Focus Foundation‘s request for information received a positive response, marking an important milestone for the project. Years of voluntary work and continued support from the authorities of the Republic and Canton of Geneva ensure the long-term sustainability of this vision, which was first initiated in 2009.
