Local support for San Antonio fishermen
The support provided by our foundation to two artisanal fishermen’s unions in San Antonio has led to the creation of a sustainable cooperative. This initiative has resulted in the development of an integrated low-carbon fishing project that will benefit the entire community.
The project will deliver high-quality seafood products that are both affordable and meet the highest hygiene standards, while also ensuring good working conditions for the fishermen. The goal is to strengthen the community by creating long-term benefits.
This concept, developed by our environmental engineer and sociologist, responds to local needs and has garnered significant political support — including backing from the Undersecretary of Economy, the Governor, and the Senator. The municipality has voted to provide land for the project, and the Chilean state has pledged to finance at least half of its cost.

The on-site feasibility study revealed significant social, economic, environmental, and public health potential, particularly through improved nutrition. Local media, including TV and print outlets, enthusiastically covered the project last November, highlighting its positive impact.
It is important to note that the project is designed to meet local needs without requiring an exhaustive analysis of specifics. With great enthusiasm, we have dedicated two years of work—including intensive engagement with local authorities and donors—to bring this initiative to life. It aligns perfectly with the Sustainable Development Goals for 2030 and the mission of our Foundation.
