rESCue was created by the ESC’on change? association with the aim of inspiring and empowering young people to transform their behaviors and actively contribute to building a more sustainable, resilient, and equitable society.
Promoting the Ecological Transition Through Play
rESCue is a mobile escape game designed to engage young people aged 14 to 20 in the urgent issue of climate change. Its goal is to raise awareness without resorting to guilt or moralism. Instead, rESCue empowers players, giving them the tools to take action and become agents of change in the fight for a sustainable future.
Set up in a portable tent, rESCue immerses participants in a compelling, yet plausible scenario, set in a reality closely mirroring our own. Players must work together to find solutions that help them “escape” their dire situation while ensuring the survival of life on Earth.
The game challenges participants to solve riddles on topics that resonate with their daily lives, such as digital technology, food, and fashion—areas they can directly influence. By working collaboratively, players reduce their carbon footprint to 2 tonnes per person per year, achieving collective victory. The key takeaway? If we act together and focus on what we can control, we can change the course of the future.
rESCue has been validated by experts in climatology, pedagogy, and psychology, and was awarded the 2020 Bourse Cantonale du Développement Durable by the State of Geneva for its innovative approach to environmental education.
