Launch of the biography of Prince Sadruddin Aga Khan at the UN

In the UN Library a number of diplomats and members of the Geneva civil society celebrated the launch of the biography «Prince Sadruddin Aga Khan, humanist and et visionary», around the author Diana Miserez who had the luck of knowing him while working in the United Nations administration.

She made a vibrant and well documented homage to the person who was first the Assistant to the High Commissioner for Refugees and then the High Commissioner for twelve years, as well as creating the Bellerive Foundation for the environment. Earth Focus was his magazine for raising awareness of young people before becoming a foundation after his death. His departure was an immense loss for those who knew him and unanimously appreciated him, as well as for all the actions he directed.

The present High Commissioner Filippo Grandi recalled how his famous predecessor was confronted with crisis never seen before, notably the ten million displaced people of Bangladesh in the 1970’s.

As all the participants emphasized, this book is an opportunity to draw inspiration from the exemplary journey and vision of this extraordinary man in order to meet the current challenges of our Planet as he would have wished.
