The Green Maps are developed neighborhood by neighborhood with the participation of young people: through this initiative, the foundation promotes a “particip’action”, where young people take charge of identifying initiatives related to sustainable development that will appear on the map . They thus contribute to the realization of a citizen’s work useful for everyday life Since 2013 Earth Focus Foundation represents Green Map for all of Switzerland, which has made the change of Green Map Suisse Romande to Green Map Swiss.
The maps are then produced on different media (paper publications, Interactive Internet publications in Switzerland and abroad), enabling the general public to become aware of the wealth of their neighbourhood in terms of ecological and citizenship initiatives.
Presentation meetings with the professors of the Aimée-Stitelemann Commercial School in Plan-Les-Ouates (Geneva) convinced us to build a vast participative project with their students. Pilot advocacy has worked well, including small data collection outings. This project, which will include 10 teachers, 7 classes and 129 pupils, will begin the identification of the sustainable sites of the communes of Plan-Les-Ouates, Confignon and Bernex.
The Green Map of Geneva then the Greater Geneva can now start with the application system for Smartphone Site Collector, easily usable by all volunteers. The university district was thus mapped with the student association for sustainable development of the University of Geneva. This project aims to be extended to all the inhabitants of Geneva and the region. As for the cross-border aspect, it will be dealt with as soon as the Geneva maps allow us to gain sufficient visibility and impact. Ms Nicola Spafford Furey, Vice President of Earth Focus, is in contact with the French Consul to facilitate such a project, which will be part of the regional strategy, notably with the advent of the CEVA.
